Insurgent – The Factionless

Factionless can be considered poor. The Divergent Series is written by Veronica Roth and has been turned into major motion films. Poverty in the world of future Chicago is also known as the Factionless.

Just like today, there are thousands of Factionless people (poor) that want to live, but they can’t because they don’t have a right or a say for any decisions in their own community. Therefore,  this is a big issue since all of these people don’t have anything. They live under rags and dig up food from trash cans to survive. We have to change this. Insurgent focuses a lot on the Factionless and what they do to live. The Factionless have enough to create an army to take down Erudite and the allied Dauntless.

Factionless are people who don’t fit into any of the five following categories: Erudite (the intelligent), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the kind), Candor (the honest) and Abnegation (the selfless). However, Divergent could be considered as a sixth category. Many of the Factionless are Divergent because they fit into more than one faction. I personally don’t see the the problem with fitting into more than one category. It’s not unusual today for somebody to be honest and brave or smart and selfless. However, in Chicago, that’s what the system seems to be:

“Fit in one, you’re fine. Fit in more than one, you’re Divergent. Fit in none, you’re Factionless” -A.R.

Even today, there are so many people in need of help and shelter, which we could provide for them, if we open our eyes instead of keeping them closed. Caleb Prior, brother of Beatrice (Tris) Prior, was surprised when he entered a building filled with red, blue, black, grey and white. It seemed like a blur until he realized that the thousands of people within his view were all Factionless.

However, the Factionless are not alone, they had Evelyn Johnson [mother of Tobias (Four) Eaton], as their leader who was in charge of them all.

We both have war inside us. Sometimes it keeps us alive. Sometimes it threatens to destroy us.

Everyone should have a say for the benefit of their own lives. For example, there was a time when women weren’t allowed to vote. Unfortunately, for some this still exists today and includes the men and woman still facing poverty. We all want the same thing, freedom, peace and victory but we won’t have these rights if we don’t take a stand. It’s time to save ourselves, it’s time to save the World, and Insurgent is just the beginning…

Don’t forget to watch Insurgent, a thrilling ride… On Blu-ray and DVD!
